Where am I?  News 6 06 November 2007

Who was Jane Ellis, Llanycil?

On Friday 30 November at 7pm a lecture will be held at Coleg y Bala.

The guest speaker will be Dr Rhiannon Ifans, Aberystwyth. She will trace the contribution of Jane Ellis, the first woman to publish a volume of literature in Welsh and composer of the carol O Deued pob Cristion.

The lecture is sponsored by the Academi in conjunction with The Bible Society.

The lecture is part of a wider scheme by the Bible Society In Wales, which purchased the Church of Beuno Sant in Llanycil in January 2007. The Society intends to convert the church into a Heritage Centre and present the history of the faith in Wales on the site.

Entrance is free and there will be tea and cake to follow.

For more information, contact Lowri, Heritage Officer for the Bible Society, by email or by ringing 01269 597554.

You can also download a poster for the lecture.

Simultaneous translation will be provided, so that non-Welsh speakers may follow the lecture.
