Inter faith development worker at Newport
church
Community
House Church in Newport, in partnership with the Presbyterian Church
of Wales, has appointed an Inter Faith Development Worker.
Mrs
Marilyn Priday, a former teacher, will work with the Christian
community and other faiths with the aim of building good
relationships that will benefit everyone in the area.
Mrs
Priday said: I am honoured and excited to be part of this new work.
It is a great opportunity for the people of Newport to get to know
the richness of faiths and cultures in our city.
On
2 December a service was held to commission the worker. Jessica
Morden MP joined representatives of Newports faith communities and
other friends to celebrate this exciting appointment.
The
service was a Christian one but was also inclusive of other faiths,
and there were opportunities for everyone to support and encourage
this initiative.

Community House Presbyterian Church has worked for over 40 years to
build a caring community in the Maindee area. It opens its doors to
people of every faith and no faith, morning, noon and night. Locals
making the best use of its facilities range from toddlers to elderly
people seeking company and a good lunch to asylum seekers and
fathers who want somewhere to meet with their kids. There are youth
groups, groups for girls, English classes and a range of other
activities and groups.
