A special service was recently held at Bethel, Trefenter. This
was a a service of music, dance and song, tracing the history of
the Israeli nation, from Moses leading the Israelites through
the desert, to the Resurrection.

The children of all the Sunday schools in the Pastorate took
part, and the chapel on the mountain was full. Three girls
danced in front of the golden calf to remind of what the
Israelites did when Moses went up Mount Sinai to receive the Ten
Commandments and they also reminded us of the time when Herod
when entranced by Herodias's daughter's dance. Nest Jenkins
played the harp to remind us of how David tried to soothe Saul's
troubled mind, and Dyfan Jones played the trumpet to remind us
of the Israelites' conquest of Jericho as they entered the
Promised Land. Three sisters recited the parable of the prodigal
son before the minister, Reverend Nicholas Bee, addressed the
children.

The songs 'Arglwydd y Ddawns', 'Ganwyd Iesu yn Nyddiau Herod',
'Iesu yw Goleuni'r Byd' and 'Mae'r Holl Fyd yn ei Law' were sung
by the children of Lledrod, Bronant, Elim and Tabor Sunday
schools respectively. The Bethel Sunday school children danced
to 'Jesus Christ Superstar' and they also presented the final
dance, based on the words of Mrs Mari Morgan, Llanrhystud, 'Dwyn
i Gof' ('Bring to Mind'). The Bethel children edited the words
slightly by presenting them as a rap!
The narrator, the minister, weaved all the events together and
he also thanked everyone who took part.
Thanks to Reverend Nicholas Bee and Carys Davies
