Fairwater Presbyterian Church's Ladies' Circle has raised over £1,000 for the British Heart Foundation.

The groups meet every Tuesday, with ladies from the church and community coming together to listen to a speaker followed by a cup of tea and time of fellowship.

Each year the ladies work for a nominated charity, collecting money in Smarties tubes, having a monthly bring-and-buy table, coffee mornings and by selling cakes and marmalade.

The charity chosen for 2009 was The British Heart Foundation and on 19 January, Mrs Audrey Boase (right), Chair of the Circle and church elder, presented Mrs Glenda Meakin of The British Heart Foundation with a cheque for £1,050 raised during the year.
