Modern langauge and services for many different
occasions are two of the main features of the
new Book of Services published by the
Presbyterian Church of Wales.
The
attractive hardback book was published as the
language and content of the old book, published
in 1991, was deemed old-fashioned.
“The new book builds on the wealth of the old
book," said Reverend Glyn Tudwal Jones, one of
the editors. “The language is contemporary and
more inclusive, and the book also includes a
much wider range of services, including a
Communion Service for children and a short Communion
Service for hospital patients and so on. There is also
a Lexionary for every year up to 2025. I hope that it
will prove to be a very useful resource for
those people who lead worship
in every denomination.”
Welsh and
English text is laid out side by side in the new
book. "This will make it easier to hold
bilingual services, and means that the book is
perfect for Christians who are learning Welsh,"
added Reverend Jones.
