What We Do

Women

The Women's Department is a particularly active branch of the Presbyterian Church of Wales.

Many of our female members work tirelessly in their churches, pastorate and presbytery. They raise funds towards the Women's Special Collection, which allows the Department to make generous contributions to the Church's Life and Witness Workers and Projects, both at home and abroad.

The Women's Department is split into four rallies: Welsh speakers in north and south Wales and English speakers in the north and south. Each holds a Mission Rally in May. The rallies are very special occasions as they are an opportunity for the women to come together to worship the Lord. The rallies are also a place to commemorate and give thanks for missionaries who shared the Gospel in such far-flung places as Mizoram and the Khassi Hills, to listen to speakers and to draw attention to the Church's current mission workers.

During the year, members and representatives of the four rallies meet in committee meetings and to receive blessings in Retreats. Many women also meet at local level in Presbytery committees.

As well as supporting the Church's workers in Wales, the Women's Department also supports many projects abroad, including HIV/AIDS projects in African countries such as Malawi and Zambia. The Women's Department is also very proud of its links with Carys Humphreys, the PCW's only foreign worker, who has worked with the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan for over 25 years.

Our Women's work is complemented by the Dorcas Programme, which was initiated by the Women’s Department to help the women of our churches share their faith in the Lord Jesus. Click here to visit the Dorcas Programme's website.

The women receive news through the regular Mission Bulletin. You can download the latest edition by clicking below.
