What We Do
Mission
The Presbyterian Church of Wales connects with people from different backgrounds in Wales and beyond, showing God's love and the part He has to play in people's lives.
Our local churches are central to our mission. They work in their communities, reaching out in many different ways. The central Church supports them through training, resources and dedicated members of staff.
The Church spreads its message in other ways too.
- A number of churches, pastorates and Presbyteries employ workers to support particular aspects of their mission. These local workers include an Interfaith Worker, Training and Development Worker and Christian Community Workers.
- Our three Mission Enablers serve particular pastorates for a certain length of time, helping those churches to develop their mission. They come from Singapore and north-east India and serve in Swansea, Ebbw Vale and the Maesteg area. They are supported by the Council for World Mission.
- We invest heavily in our youth and children.
- Local churches are encouraged to think creatively about worship and outreach through schemes such as Back to Church Sunday.
Ecumenism and the worldwide Church
Ecumenism is about different branches of the Christian church working together for greater unity. Many of our churches work with churches from other denominations, with a growing number becoming part of interdenominational pastorates. We also support ecumenical projects in different parts of Wales and are present at the Churches' Tent at festivals such as the National Eisteddfod, the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show and the Urdd Eisteddfod.
The Presbyterian Church of Wales works with Christians from many different traditions in Wales, Britain, Europe and around the world. We are a member of the following ecumenical partnerships:
